Hi! This is J.T., coming to you after ONE YEAR of running Versatta Kilts! 2025 has been full of ups and downs, and it certainly was a challenging year to take on a brand with as much gravitas as Versatta.
One of the focuses of the year has been to build my team. Versatta, having its roots in Virginia and sharing its staff with Verillas, required a new team of people to keep us growing and building once we moved to California. You’ve met a few of the team already through our new YouTube series, Fireside Dram with J.T. – if you haven’t checked that out yet, please do (and give us a like, subscribe, and a share maybe?). Sid and Mikee make up the core of our working group and without them Versatta would be a much different place.
The big project of the year was the launch of our new website. Thankfully, the rebuild gave us access to a lot of features we had been looking for and has allowed us to expand the number of kilts we can offer. We’ve spent the last few months making major improvements and minor tweaks to the front and back ends, and we’re still bringing on new features.
One of my favorite achievements of the new site was being able to start our featured artisan section. After years on the Ren Faire and Highland Game circuit, I am so happy we were able to introduce the Versatta community to our friends at Krakenwhip and Mythica Metalworks. I’m hoping to expand our product offerings from these brands (and others!) as we grow through the years.
But the true crown of the year is the creation of the Made-to-Order program. In my decade as a retail partner for Verillas/Versatta, I always wanted to be able to order colorways and combinations that weren’t necessarily viable on a large-order scale. I’ve spent the year working with one of our manufacturers to develop and implement the ability to create almost any color of kilt that we have the material available for. We’re quoting 90-120 days for delivery, but we’re working hard to keep that time as short as possible. As of this writing, a shipment of kilts is winging its way through Customs that contains MTO orders from Black Friday! It isn’t all of them, and we won’t always be able to be that fast, but we’re doing our best.
Over the next few days/weeks/months, we’ll be bringing more and more listings on line for different styles in a wealth of colors – solids, hybrids, half kilts, and more. We’re working on being able to offer multicolor hybrids, and hope to be launching bi-color hybrids (where the outside color is something other than black) in the very near future.
I’m hopeful that Versatta can have a great 2026. Thank you for making our first year truly special. I'm personally very grateful for the ways our community has shown up for us, and look forward to more exciting things to come.
Happy Holidays and a Wonderful New Year,
J.T.
